Fitting the World into a Frame
The camera brings about what I think is the simplest way to abstract meaningful art from The Experience (i.e. life); the simplicity of the good ol' "point and shoot" is what drew me to photography in the first place.
Now, after having been behind the lens for around three years, I tend to think of photography not as taking a picture "of" my subject, but rather attuning myself to what the world has to say and extracting a scene from its surroundings to produce a scene with emotional value.
This emotion could be awe, such as that derived from a broad vista, brimming with life and complexity. It could be curiosity, as in "what exactly am I looking at?" And, my personal favorite, it could be a deep appreciation for our world. There is a human behind every camera, so every photo represents what a human is capable of witnessing and, thus, what the world is able to give.
My art spans landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and portraiture. Please contact me for hire or if you have questions about my work.
